2. blacksheep Americana Night

With Bywater Call und Amanda Rheaume
Place: Heilbronn, WaldHaus
When: October 3, 2024

Showtime: 19.00 CET, Doors 18.00 CET

We are glad to continue with our live music series from last year: Amanda Rheaume and Bywater Call with the uncomparable Meghan Parnell on vocals are playing on Thursday October 3rd at the WaldHaus in Heilbronn.

After the sold-out 1. blacksheep Americana Night in February 2023, there was no question for us about repeating the Americana Night. The venue was very well received, which is also why the 2. blacksheep Americana Night will once again take place at the WaldHaus in Heilbronn. The date chosen was October 3rd, a Thursday and a public holiday at the same time as German Unity Day. Two internationally successful bands will perform, both of which not only come from Canada, but both bands are also led by a front woman.

Although the term “Americana” comes from the USA, it does not only cover music from the United States, but is an international term that includes a mixture of rock, country, folk, blues, blues rock, southern rock and singer-songwriter music. The unofficial term “CanAmericana” was even introduced for Canadian performers.

Bywater Call burn the house down at the WaldHaus in Heilbronn

Meghan Parnell (vocals) and Dave Barnes (guitar) from Toronto are the founding members of Bywater Call and were already seen live as a duo at the first edition of our Americana Night and were very well received by the completely enthusiastic audience. Her band is a seven-piece power southern soul roots rock band with influences from artists such as The Band, The Wood Brothers, the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Otis Redding, Little Feat and Sly and the Family Stone.

The band’s music is an exploration of the ups and downs of life. The spectrum ranges from intimate ballads that reveal the complexity of human emotions to electrifying anthems that need to be played at full volume. Bywater Call have appeared on festival stages across Canada and around the world and are often referred to as the “discovery of the event.”

Frontwoman Meghan Parnell is considered one of the best female voices in blues and roots rock today. In August 2023, the band took part in Joe Bonamassa’s “Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea” Mediterranean cruise alongside headliner Blackberry Smoke and was invited to perform on the main stage at the All-Star Jam with Bonamassa himself. Just two months later, Bywater Call performed at the world-renowned “Rockpalast” festival “Crossroads” in Bonn, and the entire performance was shown on WDR television.

Winner of the 2023 Capital Music Awards for Album of the Year (The Spaces in Between) and Winner of the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards for Indigenous Songwriter of the Year, Amanda Rheaume’s rootsy, guitar-driven ballads introduce crucial dimensions to the world of Heartland Rock.

For the second time blacksheep Americana Night in Heilbronn

In a genre characterized by anthems of underdogs, assumptions, and unfair advantages, Rheaume’s sound and story crucially and radically expand geographic and cultural boundaries to make space for new perspectives on resistance and resilience. A Citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario and an active and proud member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, Rheaume’s music is indeed from the heart, and the land.

Rheaume has released 5 full-length albums over a period of 15 years, at the same time fostering a self-managed career travelling for countless tours and milestones. With her latest release, The Spaces In Between (2022), Rheaume embarked on a journey through a wilfully and harmfully misrepresented chapter in a violent colonial timeline, making a powerful statement about history and identity.

Ticket presale for the 2. blacksheep Americana Night will kick off on May 1st. Ticket is 28 Euro, available at www.reservix.de and www.bluerose-records.com.
