Jack and the Weatherman

Niederlande

Berry – Jack – Krikken and Sebastiaan – Weatherman – Weerman belong from Haarlem / Netherlands and are just going as Jack and the Weatherman. Two friends with a musical mission. Musicians who hear their sun-kissed, popular pop songs in the world. Inspired by the music of Jason Mraz, The Lumineers and the Vocal Harmonies by Simon & Garfunkel.

The songs by Jack and the Weatherman remove elements of pop, folk and reggae with positive and profound lyrics. In their songs, they celebrate the beautiful aspects of life and recognize the fragility of its beauty. It is music for the heart and mind.

Berry and Sebastiaan were friends at high school in Emmen, a city in the east of the Netherlands. After graduation, Berry began to travel the world and write down his experiences and thoughts as texts. Sebastiaan had become a musician, he plays various instruments. It was an opportunity when they saw each other again in the city of Haarlem years later. When Sebastiaan got his guitar out and started playing “The Dynamo of Volition” by Jason Mraz and Berry sang the lyrics, it quickly became clear that they would become musical partners.

“Tomorrow” is the first song they wrote themselves. And before they got it right, they had three more pieces in the block. You have to be fast because the first appearance was already planned. A band name had to be found quickly: Berry Krikken became Jack, because “krik” means “jack” in Dutch, and Sebastiaan Weerman becomes Weatherman (“Weerman” means “Weatherman”). It was the beginning of an adventure with lots of fun, music, sold out shows and new friends in the Netherlands and abroad.

Jack and the Weatherman quickly became one of the most active live bands in the Netherlands and without the support of a label or management they hit hit by hit on Spotify with millions of streams from around the world. They toured extensively through Europe and they raised and raised the roof wherever they appeared.

Jack and the Weatherman is a DIY band. They write their songs in “The Cave of no Shame”, their private studio. They record their songs with their friend and producer Jasper Zuidervaart and publish them on their own label Glowbird Records.

So far they have released three different EPs: “Something Positive” (2014), “Homewards” (2015) and “Some Art of Purpose” (2016).

“Music is simply the best way to use our time,” says Berry. “As soon as we start making music, we become gentle. It’s like a mental reset,” says Sebastiaan.

Finally the much anticipated debut album is finished: “The lucky Ones”. Because that’s exactly what the two friends from Haarlem, who happened to find each other. Two guys who realize how extraordinary life is and write the songs about it. Happy songs the first time you listen, but with a deeper level for those who are willing to listen. And every day more people are ready to listen to their songs. They are ready to go, they are the lucky ones: Jack and the weather man.
